While it seems like to CPU processing power is coming to a limitation, Intel is focusing on small form factor machines.

Basically that means Intel is introducing Desktop PCs on a smaller scale. For example the whole unit can be placed on top of you palm. Imagine that.

So Intel has been putting out some models in to the market with their name called NUC (Next Unit of Computing). As per today, these Intel NUC machines are also available in Sri Lanka. For example Techzone[ref] and Barclays[ref] has already post their Intel NUC machines on their websites.

Now Intel has also going to introduce their next NUC machine set (NUC 2.0).

From the web research this is the conclusion for their future release (2015).

  • Come with 14nm Braswell Atom and fifth-generation Intel Core processors
  • Internal support for M.2 SSD cards

Notes:

I will update the post as I get more information.

,M.2 formerly known as the Next Generation Form Factor (NGFF), is a specification for internally mounted computer expansion cards and associated connectors. It replaces the mSATA{.mw-redirect} standard, which uses the PCI Express Mini Card{.mw-redirect} physical layout.
